Alice found herself at a big dining table, having dinner with the Queen. The royal dinner had everything - champagne grapes and vine tomatoes, burgundy sauces and sauteed kebobs, sushi rolls and salmon sandwiches. And ... frogs.. some of whom looked alive!
Having lost her appetite, Alice decided to make conversation with the Queen instead.
Alice: Your majesty, the Queen, I always imagined a palace to be a fun place. With plush couches, soft velvet cushions, embroidered window panes, carved big doors.. but here, I hardly see any of that. Everything seems to be big and hard, there are guards everywhere carrying weapons of all sorts, they jump at anything that moves and create such a ruckus.
Queen: It is for security reasons.
Alice: And why do you need so much security.
Queen: When you make rules in Wonderland, you always make someone mad. And in time, you make everyone mad. You have no friends left. Only subjects who want to get rid of you at the first opportunity they get.
Alice: I am sorry to hear that. But you are such a nice queen. They should be proud of you.
Queen: When I was a princess, they liked me. I loved them too. But, then of course, it was before I started making the rules.
Alice: So do you regret being a queen?
Queen: There are some great benefits. I get to make Wonderland exactly as I like it!
